About me: My heart and soul belong to Mayumi. She is my love and my life. Truly the id to my ego. Through her eyes, I've been able to see a different world.
I'm an ex-pat from Iowa, now living happily in Brazil. We currently have 6 cats; 1 adult (Mitten) and 5 (Arashi, Gizmo, Nicholas, Momo and Texas)kittens, 4 fish, a cute little finch named Eddie Izzard and now my 2 new babies Dolce & Gabbana, a coupled pair of parakeets. I'm looking to get a cockatiel, I think. Also, I am an English teacher. Who would have thought that was possible? The students seem to love their tattooed, pierced, Ozzy loving, Rock 'n Roll American teacher too much at times. LOL But I love my job and don't really want to do much else at the moment.
For those of you that may be knowledgeable about the Enneagram system, I am an 8. If you aren't, Wiki it and you'll pretty much see all that is me. To find out what you are, go to www.similarminds.com and check out the tests there. You may learn lots of things about yourself. Most anything that has to do with psychology I am interested in. I am a rapid cycling (ultradian) bipolar I (with Borderline Personality Disorder) that just seems to be having a really good couple of years. Most of the time when I was episodic, I was in a mixed state. Extremely unstable & hard to handle for those around me that loved me. I am aware however that my good fortune of no episodes may change at any time. I also have Fibromyalgia with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that has been kind enough to hold off on me since I've been here in Brazil. Though I suspect, I may be getting kicked in the ass soon enough. I am also a recovering cocaine/methamphetamine addict who has been sober for 9 years this year. This is my life. I've taken it by the horns instead of having it control me. I am a firm believer of the school of thought that we all have our own destinies. I'm on the path to mine. It's been a long and winding road, but it's becoming clearer with every step I take.

I am a plethora of useless information, lover of all things trivia and seeker of vast and pointless knowledge. Do be aware that I insist on intelligent conversation and resent childishness. You don't have to act old, just be mature. I am temperamental at times, but I am also loyal and a damn good ally. To be sure, though, on the other side of that coin, I am a Taurus and have been known to hold never ending grudges. ;)
Last but not least, outside of Mayumi, music means everything to me. I am entirely eclectic and will listen to nearly anything once. If you have suggestions on something you would like me to check out, let me know. Just please, no gospel or heavy Christian. This is something that I really don't wish to hear.
